Antique Car Gets 2nd Call For Service

Recently Ed McNulty Realty LLC, a Real Estate company on the South Shore of Long Island purchased, renovated and put into service a 1922 Model-T Ford (Depot Hack). The car resembles a San Francisco trolley car on wheels. A (Hack) is defined as a saddled horse used for transportation and has been given the distinction as being the first Taxi. Ed McNulty, the broker of Ed McNulty Realty says he purchased the (Depot Hack) for the nostalgia. Ed, goes on to say that his town of East Rockaway, recently celebrated a 100th birthday and has a museum, the Grist Mill. Considering this along with the marketing and selling of homes that date back to the late 1800s he thought the (Depot Hack) was well suited for his business and the community.

About the Depot Hack

In the late 1800s to early 1900s railroads were growing across the country. Hotels, businesses and hot spots needed a way to transport passengers and their belongings to and from the Railroad. The (Depot Hack) was the solution. The original depot hacks were horse-drawn wagons. The wagons were later replaced with the Model-T automobile.   The first Model-T was produced on September 27th, 1908 in Detroit, Michigan. The 177 cubic-inch 4 cylinder motor had a 20 horsepower engine and was capable of going up to 45 mph.
